Food operators today are challenged by the new trend of on-demand food delivery services, in ways that are oftentimes out of their control. 

 

Services like DoorDash, GrubHub, Caviar and UberEats offer takeout delivery service to consumers, but are not connected to the restaurant preparing the food.

Consumers simply order through the delivery services’ apps, where the selected delivery service will place, pick up and deliver the meal. Available in many major metro areas, this trend is capturing a huge share of the market and is continuing to grow. Many food operators are less than thrilled with these services because they say it eliminates customer contact, and they have no control over the quality of the food once it leaves their establishment.
